Direct Selling
When the word "direct selling" comes to my mind, immediately i will think of some companies pertain to this marketing tool. (Feel free to google it in case you do not aware). Honestly, there are many friends of mine are currently doing this job while studying, and in their mindset this kind of job will not bring any effect to them as they can quit or stop it for temporary while handling their studies. For me, there is no such thing as "no effect" because effect always come in positive and negative form TOGETHER. I know that in Malaysia, many people are doing direct selling as their part time job in order to get some extra income, and personally i agree that as a children it is good for us to reduce financial burden of our family, but view it in some other perspective, you will find that sometimes the story is not just talking about ABC. Well, i respect those companies' PnC, and i will NOT go for details but will GENERALLY talk about it. Basically, direct selling is a tool used with personal influence and face-to-face communication to increase the confidence of the subject, and in in this NEW TREND, psychological and some business tactics are combined in some ways to ......CAPTURE ATTENTION of the subject. Personally, i do not get a chance to go for any so-called "motivational talk", but i think those who attend can gain advantage from knowing new friends and share their experience, which is a good thing. And guess what? Those things that they learned will be "applied" to those who does not go for such talk, and add up with personal influence, all are ready to be "brain-washed". In psychological field, personal influence is effective to some people because the people in front of them are using personal experience, influence and the advantage of the company they are working with. They usually will start with some topics related to the subject, and from there penetrate into their thinking to make persuasion successful. And IF i am not mistaken, there are certain steps for them to identify who they should find. For example, students can be set as target for few reasons: they are studying (advantage of finding lots of money can used to persuade them), they want to have everything fast (money gained can help them achieve their dream), they do not know what reality looks like, and they are told that they can quit and stop ANYTIME they want (therefore their mind and heart are not strong enough to say no). Well, 3 reasons are enough to make them surrender and join, huh? Besides that, you will find out that they will keep talking and talking about advantages. Just ask them 1 question: what are the disadvantages? If they say no, they are lying. In my perception, many of those joining are actually not trying to find more customers, but they just want to find back the money that they have invested and quit. In order to get back their money, they have to find more people to join, and that is how the network expands. Of course some incentives also must be given to those high achievers so that more people can be persuaded to join. From here, what i am trying to say is that why result of direct selling in US is so damn bad but in Asia, the company can succeed? This is a question we should think about. Secondly, direct selling in Malaysia has turned from blue ocean to red ocean, and it is not impossible but very hard to find new members to join. Finally, just a heads-up, or you can take it as a friendly-advice: If you don't know how to swim, please don't act if you know because you will end up drowned.
