This is me with Mr Timothy Law~
Well, again, i am going to write down what i have learnt today to prevent myself from getting to nowhere in the future. From yesterday until today, i have attended 3 different talks named work ethics, critical thinking and tips to become a successful entrepreneur. For the work ethics, basically it is similar with business law, such as misconduct and behavior that could lead to dismissal. What i can learn from here is that we really have to be careful of what we sign or whatever information we give when filling in a form. Nowadays, there are a lot of people tend to ignore all those rules and regulations as well as terms and conditions without having the awareness that they could end up in court if any situation happens, especially when give false information in applying for job. This false information can be referred to as information that you "assume" that it is, where in fact it is not. Second talk involves the method and ways that you have to think of when you are making decision. When you are in certain important position, the decision that you make can affect a lot of people, including the company. Therefore, it is vital to know where is your position, what you want to do, and set a clear goal. It is true that in our society, there are many workers lazy to think and many of them tend to wait for orders rather than think what they can do for the company. Another important point is that when you are trying to approach your boss, never go to see him or her with a problem, but with a solution and justification. Third talk is the most interesting one i would say, because it is conducted by Mr Jonathan Fong, the person who conducts the talk of Blue Ocean Strategy. Well, he tells us that to become a successful entrepreneur, there are certain characteristics that we must have, which include have guts, dare to take risk, do not take failure as an excuse not to continue, and have enthusiasm in what you are doing now. There are many things that we have been told not to do because it is irrational, and because of that we are all tied to the thinking of older generation. In reality, there is no such thing as irrational, and the rationality can actually change depends on situation. If a person told to fight with a tiger, it is an irrational move; but if the person is facing a situation where the tiger are trying to harm his loved ones, the irrational move is bullshit. We all have guts, it is just that we are only told to follow rules and not thinking out of the box, and that causes a serious problem which makes our country always left behind. Many people always use the word "boring", but for high achievers, their time is always utilized to the max. They know how to use all the 1440 minutes in each day in an effective manner. This is the main difference between a successful person and a failure person.
